Lab Members

Mr. Ben Attwood, PhD student
- United Kingdom
Ben Attwood is investigating the role Eph receptors in neuronal plasticity. This project was started whilst Ben was an intercalated BSc student but has extended to become an intercalated PhD. After completing the PhD Ben will continue his medical studies and he hopes that this lab based training will serve him well in treating patients in the future. In his spare time Ben enjoys playing golf and football.

Miss Julie-Myrtille Bourgognon, PhD student
- France
Julie-Myrtille is French and is fond of chocolate cakes, homemade of course. While she is not cooking she investigates the role of protease-activated receptors in neuronal plasticity and behavioural responses for her PhD. She likes the movie 'Vampires' (the Carpenter's one) and dreams of a big house full of big cats.

Dr. Mariusz Mucha
- Poland
Mariusz is a molecular biologist interested in genes regulated by proteases during learning. Never refuses spending some time in good company and he's crazy about Italian cuisine and modern art.

Dr. Emanuele Schiavon
- Italy
Emanuele is Italian. He is an electrophysiologist and studies the role of various plasticity-related molecules in LTP and LTD in the limbic system. Brain is his passion. He also loves running on sunny days, listening to Bob Dylan or Mozart.

Miss Anna Skrzypiec
- Poland
Anna is Polish. She applies molecular biology techniques combined with real-time confocal imaging of cultured neurons to study the involvement of ephrins in neuronal plasticity. She likes cats, sailing and wants to live somewhere hot.

Mr. Satyam Patel, PhD student
- India
Satyam is a PhD student and a pharmacologist by training. He is investigating the role of glucocorticoid receptor co-chaperone FKBP51 in neuronal plasticity. He is very fond of spicy Indian curries and Indian music. He likes to play cricket and poker in his spare time.
